A new adventure anyone? How does going to a cottage that is totally boat access only? Wow, I had the pleasure the other day to go and look at a new property that we have just listed. I was met at the government dock on Lake Talon (Take Talon Lake road - dirt road for 2.2km from Hwy 17E at Rutherglen) by the owner of the cottage and we went for an amazing 5 minute boat ride (about 5 miles or less from the landing) to his cottage in a peaceful bay on the lake. I was pleasantly surprised by the convenience that the cottage boasts - lots of things for entertaining family and close freinds. Not a "party place" but an amazing place to gather your family and truly "get together". I was immediately comfortable when I arrived. All of the quilts are home made and add so much to the already natural charm of the cabin. With 5 bedrooms and beds for 10 this is the perfect place to relax. I can see my family all nestled together enjoying each other's company but without having to trip over each other all of the time. Talon Shutes is just 5 miles away and a great place to take your gang for an afternoon's adventure.

Every year Canada Day seems to be the official kickoff for summer. This year started early so it feels like Canada is celebrating the "middle of the season" instead. Imagine, we've already had at least 2 amazing months of weather and there are at least 2 more to come!!!! I hope everyone had an awesom weekend and I would like to thank the families that rented from us this weekend and celebrated Canada Day with us in North Bay. I hope our city treated you well. We hope you will come back and visit again soon.

What a gloreous time of year! Strawberries are ready for the picking. Today, I went to Leisure Farms in Sturgeon Falls and picked up 4 - 4 litre baskets of this season's berries. They are wonderful tasting and already in a few of my favourite recipes. I love strawberries mixed with Balsamic Vinegar and ginger on icecream. What a delite to the taste buds. A little brown sugar added to the mix and you can't beat the flavour combination. If you are looking for something fun to do while in North Bay and area, go out and get some strawberries at either Becker's Berry Patch or Leisure Farms. Both producers are top in my books! Another spectacular day in the North with temperatures hitting 27C. A little cloud made it very bearable and there was no humidity in the air. Where else can you enjoy such great weather.

I can't believe that another winter has gone by and spring is upon us. I love this time of year. Many of our property owners are getting their cottages ready for the summer months and many of our renters are booking their holidays already. It looks like it's going to be another great season. The weather has been a bit cold of late, but I really hope that it's not an indication of the type of summer we can expect. I know I'm hoping for a hot and dry summer with just enough rain to keep the fire bans at bay.

The weatherman is predicting lots of snow so get those skis and sleds tuned up for fantastic powder. Most of our properties are easy access to Cross country ski and snowmobile trails, and in most cases ice fishing is right out your front door. If snowshoeing is your thing, strap on the racks and head out- there are always lots of trails to follow.
